I have these Inktense blocks, but I am not successful in painting with them. I found them the most useful for wet value underpainting for soft pastels. When I have them dried, I can build up as many pastel layers as usual :)

I think that’s a great subject for a YT video, same painting, different colour choices, and the outcome(s). Could be very valuable to increase a beginner’s confidence how a limited, split primary or other such reduced choice palette impacts their artwork. Look forward to watching it!

Does your white gouche dry shiny or matte? I have Winsor & Newton permanent white gouche that dries shiny. Is this normal?

White gouache is a great tool for watercolor paintings. May I ask if you wet the paper on both sides, and what surface you laid it on?

Ohhhh I love the Middle-Earth vibe :))) I have to admit, when I tried watercolors for the first time, I planned to make art inspired by Middle-Earth. A few years have passed, and I have never painted a scene. I am still scared of making bad art, because Tolkien's world is so precious to me... My favorite character from the books are: Glorfindel, Aragorn, and the Nazguls (so scary!), and from the movies: Aragorn, Eowyn, Eomer, Legolas, Gandalf. Thank you for sharing your art process and many informative advices of using watercolor pencils :)

It’s always an appreciated reminder to think of the dimensions of the object while painting because it’s easy to forget this when you are pianting and focused on shapes! The reminder to still keep this in mind while activating the pencil is great advice… It’s truly walking a tightrope to paint… I also found the advice to wet the surrounding area first before activating the watercolor pencil new and very useful! I also love how you prewet the white pencil for highlights. Thankyou!❤

Hi , thanks for the very informative , and interesting video, it's been a big help to me. I've recently returned to watercolours after probably 30 yrs, so I'm learning all over again, lol. And to answer your question on using old paint, I can say my W &N cottman pans look perfect, and are painting just as good as I remember them. I've noticed that a lot of regular mechanical pencils have leads that behave like water colors if you wet them.

This inspired me to bring out my pencils! Great video😊
